[12] Super Mario 64 DS World Record 80 Star Speed Run in 1:27:36 (Part 12 of 12)
This is the twelfth and finalsegment of the World Record SDA run on Super Mario 64 DS. I am uploading special versions of the SDA videos just to show the file select screen too. This is what I’ve said in my run comments: Segment 12 (Bowser 3) Last Segment. Nothing much to say but Mario is the only one to enter Bowser 3 in a legit way. The platform section could be improved by a second or 2 but Bowser itself was good enough, as it had a perfect 3 hit each one with 8 full spins!. *Each time Bowser gets hit he always lands around the centre of the arena, it does make some of the latter tosses tougher because of the extra distance required. @stickfiguresmaster I am only going to make a 150 star speed run if I have a way to directly record a Real DS without using emulation (in other words only when I have a DS capture device I might produce the run).

I like how Peach’s voice is a normal human voice in this game, unlike her squealing in all the other games.
I decided to change my route a bit.
I’m never able to do the out of bounds glitch, so I will remove that. But everything else, no delete.
I’ll have tons of mistakes done for fun, like MilesSMB’s Single-Segment 61-Star SMG Run.

Sorry if it sounds harsh but I have experienced speed running this game and I thought it was a ‘meh’ idea because it roughly takes 2 minutes to get Wario’s Key and then 40+ extra seconds to unlock him (and his hats on the courses). Just to get 1 quickstar which is unlocked late in the game. You can easily get 3-4 quick stars within 2 minutes and 40 seconds.
Lastly Wario sucks, as he is hardly used other than the Caps in Hazy Maze Cave

Or at least, a 81 star run or an 84 star run is okay, but the whole point of 81 is getting the switch star in Bowser 3. 84 is the same but you have to get the red coin stars for the Bowser Levels. But the better routes are 50 stars, (1) 80 stars (1, This one) or 150 (0, None!!!)

By getting all the glowing rabbits you can get access to that room. All it has is ONE star and that’s it. How to get the glowing rabbits? It’s completely random where they show up and you just have to play for like an hour to find them all…
I dunno anymore where to get the key, but the room is.. a seemingly borderless infinite space with a star ‘in the middle’ and a door.

Lol yeah it did happen a couple of times that :s.
The D-Pad can be a pain at times, especially when you want to change direction. I either have to wait till my player stands still orelse the player would go the other way like a ‘turning circle’.
I’ll watch them, ’cause I watched the first 3 & I think they’re alittle shabby, but just because sometimes you’ll like run into a wall and stuff.
This is the world record and the verfiers on this run says that it’s on par with the original N64 run. Don’t forget that I’m wasn’t playing the game in a typical handheld pose. It was stuck onto a table.
I know it can be improved and there were some faster stars. Maybe the next run will be Sub 1h 25m. This segment is an ‘ok’ as there were some ‘tough’ improvements in the early part of the segment like the 2nd Star. Segment 3, 7, 9 and 11 are good ones to watch
If this really is the world record, it’s only because nobody else is trying. I can’t give you a video of me getting 80 stars faster, but I can play much better than this, shaving alot of time off of the actions that take so long in this game.
Watch Segment 6 and 9, doing that star takes me back to the main room in the castle, it has some better uses later on like changing characters.
why didnt you do secret slide, only about 21 seconds to a star?
