[2A] Super Mario 64 DS World Record 80 Star Speed Run in 1:27:36 (Part 2A of 12)

This is the second (part A)segment of the World Record SDA run on Super Mario 64 DS. I am uploading special versions of the SDA videos just to show the file select screen too. This is what I’ve said in my run comments: Segment 2: (Stars 1 to 9, Mario Unlocked, Goodbye Yoshi) I was quite strict on this segment as this one had a linear route. I accept minor mistakes but some (tougher) tricks were not used or else I would lose more time on a failed attempt against a skipped attempt like Goomboss Battle’s 3rd hit. Star 1: Bob-omb Battle Field (BBB): Chain Chomp star: This star is a no brainer and is one of the quickest stars to get on this course. *Due to a bug fix that was found on the original N64 (by using Bob-omb clipping) I had to get the star the normal way. Star 2: Whomp’s Fortress (WF) : Chip off Whomp’s Block Quite good performance, it’s possible to save a few seconds by the performing the backflip sooner on the lifts but it’s not really easy to do. I was near the star after defeating the boss so that kind of made up for it. *The DS version has different physics so the slopes work differently and therefore you can’t reach King Whomp without using the lifts. Also the Ground Pound is less buggy so King Whomp can crush a character in a Mid-air Ground Pound pose *The DS version also has a different starting point making some stars 1 second quicker than the original to reach the destination. Star 3: WF :To the top of the Fortress: Very similar to the other one but the
Video Rating: 4 / 5

No, if you were refering to King Whomp.
    From the description.
“Also the Ground Pound is less buggy so King Whomp can crush a character in a Mid-air Ground Pound pose “

  5. pkmnmaster says:

Couldn’t you jump through the Whomp just before he slams down?

@HitomiLove the IS-NITRO capture device is very hard that it’s not on Ebay at all, it was originally used by people developing DS games.
The homemade capture device has a list of equipment by watching CloneCharizardX’s “Testing my DS Capture Device” video, no instructions on how to make one I’m afraid.

    @Greenalink

Thanks again, could you tell me where can I buy these equipments? Greatly appreciate your effort.

  11. Greenalink says:

@HitomiLove The only other way is to either:
Buy an expensive & hard to find “IS-NITRO-CAPTURE device” (enables to hook DS onto TV), or try and modify your DS into a homemade capture device like Buoysel & CloneCharizard did.

    Hey Greenalink,

Thanks for replying to my post but theres no other way to record ds footage other than using a camcorder? I only know people use dazzle for PS1,PS2,gamecube, Wii footage. So if I dont have a camcorder or digital camera I am screwed? Thanks!

  13. Greenalink says:

@HitomiLove There are a couple of filming tips related videos on my channel and the list of equipment required is seen on my channel description.

  14. HitomiLove says:

Hey nice video, but how do you record DS gameplay?

  15. mistamontiel says:

You’re awesome at this, even though it was a game that was like the worst remake compared to the original. Very good video quality for recording a DS, too.

  18. SMBKING2008 says:

This is the DS version. In this one you START out as Yoshi

  19. spoty212 says:

  22. markymark443 says:

damn it’s too bad they fixed all the glitches from the n64 (like the whomp glitch and running up the slope glitch) otherwise you coulda done it much faster…

  23. sidekike3 says:

    ur good at this game!

  24. Greenalink says:

There’s only a Segmented run at the moment, done by me.
In fact all of the DS runs on Speed Demos Archive are segmented :o .

  25. DEB00G says:

That’s a good point. I’m pretty sure it beats the single segmented run if there is one.
