If you own a DS and enjoyed the movie Cars, don’t hesitate to buy this game. Unlike the minigame collection that formed the DS version of the first Cars game, DS Maternational is everything you’d want from a DS Cars game: Fast, fun racing with all the humor and personality of the film. It lacks the virtual-Radiator Springs world to drive around that forms the hub of the console versions, but the racing is smooth and well-done.

This is, hands-down, the 2nd most enjoyable racer on the DS (after Mario Kart.)

The game delivers a fully animated opening cinema (later cinemas from the console versions are presented as slide shows), a solid 3D racing game engine, voice acting for all characters during races (they’re a very talkative bunch!) and imaginative tracks with hidden shortcuts that trigger in-race special events.

You begin with a choice of 2 racers (Lightning and Mater), unlocking more characters as you discover secret routes. Unlockable cars include Sheriff, Doc, Sarge, Flo, Lizzie and several others.

So — for any Cars fans out there wondering whether or not this one’s worth a purchase, wonder no longer: This game’s a blast.

This item is being given to my grandson who is 3 1/2 who loves anything that is associated with CARS. He loves to use his brother DS and always play the games well so this will be a Christmas present for him when he gets his own DS. Thanks for the wonderful price and prompt service.

My son loves this game, but he gets a little frustrated with it. He is 5, almost 6, and I wish we would have waited to give it to him until he had more experience with DS games. He really enjoys it when it isn’t too difficult, but it seems to get a little hard compared to some other games he has – like the Hot Wheels Beat That game (we LOVE it). This game is a little different to steer and not quite as easy.

I know it will be a favorite eventually, it is very cute to watch and listen to the characters!

My 7 yr old is loving this game, it was given to him as a Bday gift. He’s having just as much fun with this game as the Mario Kart. You seem to have to do more in this game, to get other cars.

CARS Mater-National is a great game for young (and older) CARS fans! My 3-year-old son absolutely loves loves loves this game. It is easy for him to control and he has a variety of racing tracks to choose from. Plus, he can choose whatever character from the movie that he wants to be (provided you unlock all of them). Of course, he’s three, so he always wants to be Lightning McQueen :) . I have played this game also (in an attempt to unlock courses and characters faster for him) and found it to be quite fun! The characters you race against and use say little quotes or sayings from the movie when you pass them or they pass you and he thinks this is hilarious. It’s a great “babysitter” for when I am busy or for long car trips. I’m much much happier with my purchase of this game than the original CARS game (don’t waste your $$).
