Nah, just very fanservicey. They spend more time making fun of the character designs than they do advancing the plot, at least in the first game. One of the characters even gets called an “H-Game reject”.
Actually, if you look closely, the Forced Evasions expend 50% of your Frontier Gauge. I doubt it takes both.
Actually, I believe the gauge has something to do with your own Forced Evasions, not your enemies.
Could be right though, since I don’t know anything about the new game mechanics…Other then Up on the D-Pad calls in the support only characters.

I noticed the E.Gauge which resets when the character is changed. Probably a way of promoting more creative attack sequences? (As in, the opponent forcefully evades when the gauge fills up.)

Alright, I’m using this video to practice reading katakana, so I’ll share a few things. Dorothy’s support attack is called “Return to Home” (i.e. “There’s no place like home”), Cardia’s final is “Kirin Assault”, and Pete Pain’s final is… “Lostboy Slaughter”, I think. Definitely Lostboy something. MOMO’s support attack is Starwind Mode, and I think Hild Brun’s final is “Feather Storm”, but they spell it like “fedder”… Which probably explains Henne’s “Fader Ray”.

You should play the first game, then. Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier. All of the characters here that aren’t from Xenosaga or Namco X Capcom debuted in that game (except three of them), and most of the Xenosaga and Namco X Capcom characters here were in that one as well. More specifically, it had Reiji, Xiaomu, and KOS-MOS as playable characters, with Saya and T-elos appearing as villains. Everyone else in that game is brand new(ish), and it’s a great game on its own.
Yes. Very, very epic win. It was badass enough with just Reiji and Xiaomu, but now they add Saya of all people and let you chain it together with a standard combo. Do want.
