DESTRUCTOID SHOW 0034 Happy New Year everyone! We’re back from our mini-hiatus, and we’ve got a bunch of new resolutions. First and foremost, everyone say hello to our new co-host, Max Scoville. You may recognize him from guesting on some previous episodes, but now he’s here for good. Our much beloved Jonathan Holmes had to return to his home-planet of Boston, and continues to fight the good Destructoid fight, but logistically, living in Boston and shooting in San Francisco just doesn‚Äôt work out. Anyway, news is pretty light right now so we’re a little slim on content. The biggest story of the day is the leaked/stolen 3DS that found its way off the Nintendo assembly line in China and next to some cute desk ornaments. We’ve also got the promise of even more forthcoming Mass Effect 2 DLC, Monster Hunter in 3D(s), and intriguing Japanese underwear. Stay a while won’t you?
I said this before and I will say it again….Namco Bandai has ZERO reason not to allow Atlus to translate this. It only includes original characters (thus no licensing issues), there is no voice acting (as far as I know) and there is a very large DS market outside of Japan.
This has all the makings of a success. So PLEASE, Namco Bandai, do not let this be another OGS/OGG! Allow Atlus to translate this game! If you do, I will buy a DS for the sole purpose of being able to play it!
Its almost as good as when Shu obliterates teh universe in OGs!

Weapon Rank Up System – Basically shows that by upgrading a weapon, you can unlock a stronger version of it. DisCutter becomes Vanity Ripper. Boost Knuckle becomes Chou Shindouken.
The other things of note is that there are event based cut scenes and the ability to skip attack animations (which was show during the whole directional/area of control example).
So let’s see what sense I can make of the Japanese (or rather, the English written in katakana). Skipping the mecha and characters, whose names can be found in plain English on the official site. At 4:08 it mentions “Weapon RankUp System”. First it shows Discutter, followed by Vanity Ripper(?), Boost Knuckle, and… something Japanese. 4:35 is Unit’s… Something. 4:50 is Event Cut. And that’s all I can read.
Haha, I’m all pumped up from watching the mook mechs battle it out, then suddenly it gets to 3:50. Naturally, my immediate reaction is “Oh shit.”

I dont think there has actually been a CONFIRMED Monster hunter title for the 3DS or th NGT.
I believe its all just speculation.
I would love to see Monster Hunter come to the 3ds. you have no idea how much i want a MH game in 3d. but i have a feeling that monster hunter is just moving on to the NGP, since there is already a monster hunter game confirmed for it.

woa what? Holmes left Destructoid? That guy seriously pumped out some incredibly detailed, entertaining and amazing reviews. Honestly, he made IGN’s reviews look completely laughable, bare bones and utterly boring in comparison. He was the main reason why I went to Destructoid in the first place. What happened? Did he get a job at that annoying Nintendo Hating crap hole Dungeon ‘IGN’? ;p
