Mono Evolver Demo
A little demo showing and tweaking some presets of my recently adquired DSI Mono Evolver keyboard. No real playing, just checking sounds that includes leads and sequences and at 7:30 min aprox starts drones.

@7:27 – excellent sounds for drum n bass.
I just got one of these, within 10 minutes of experimenting with it….it became my favorite synth in my studio quiver. What a wonderful instrument!!!!!! Great synth……..great, great instrument!
@MeldMagic I have both : ) I also have a Prophet 08 PE and am actually currently trying to sell my mek to basically buy it again in the PE version. It is still hard to say which sounds better though between dsi and moog. I love both very much. Thanks for the question.

@strangerhythm That clarified it! Thanx! I thought polychain meant that you played the two synths at the same time, which I guess you can do with any synth.
@astroboomboy You can play any synth (including tetra or mopho) simultaneously with the mono evolver keyboard via the MIDI interface, but you can’t “polychain” a tetra or mopho to an evolver. Polychaining is adding more voices to the synth itself which requires the same synth engine. Is this what you are asking?
@Woefiej It can be chained with another Evolver, the desktop or the rack or another KB
@astroboomboy , from DSI FAQ: “Can a Prophet and an Evolver be poly chained?
Short answer: no. But even if you could poly chain them, the programs from one cannot be loaded into the other and the controls from one don’t map onto the other.”
Mopho and Tetra have similar arquitecture to Prophet (except for an extra SubOsc), but not to Evolver, so, without any extra third party software, I don’t think it’s possible (sadly).
I somehow like this synth even more than the prophet 08, at least for the more crazy sounds.
@RanKirlian Are yo sure you can’t polychain it? Not even with the new drivers or software or what they put out on the dsi website?

as far as I know the presets on the keyboard contain several different ( better ? ) ones.
I love a good sequence. Hey a question – what exactly is the difference between a mono and a poly? does mono mean that it can only play a single-line melody?
looks awesome. I saw trent reznor use this on one of the last few NIN shows.
@remixerone Most of the sounds here are presets and most of them are in desktop version too ( I’ve had both). I think presets on MEK where mostly the same, but check Dave Smith website, maybe you can find the banks there, they will work on desktop version too.

@AntaRESynth Hi, yes, 2 or 3 of my knobs does the same. It’s because faulty encoders used on some Dave Smith’ synths, which behaves this way when it gets a bit of dirt. There is a fix under the support page of Dave Smith website by applying Deoxit to the encoder shafts. I didn’t fixed mine yet.
I have the same synth and i have a problem with knobs. When im trying to change programs it jumps back and forth when im tweaking the program knob….Do you have the same problem???
@mproductionsmusik This synth has a lot of character and can do great sounds but noticethat this one is the Mono Evolver Keyboard, so mono-phonic, not the best way to play pads. Maybe the Polyevolver (4 voices) would be a better choice or even the Prophet 08 (8 voices), which is mostly the same but having only the 2 analog oscillators per voice. Andromeda is great for pads if you’re searching for an analog synth, but if this feature is not needed, Virus Ti would be also a great choice.
it sound very arch… how is the filer on this synth? can you create also some clean sound with character…. because iam searching for a good analogue synth to make phat bass sound & also long warm pads sound… having a lot of money i would buy a Andromeda A6 with a Virus TI… for now i have only 1500$ to spend on a new synth..

Little Phatty has the moog sound and this worths for a lot of people, also for me, but I think it runs a bit limited in features compared to the Evolver; MEk worths more for me because the sound (you can do really awesome things) and also for the sequencer. While MEK has tons of knobs, both are really fun and easy to edit.
There is also a way to have both of them if you get the Phatty and a Evolver desktop, but then you miss the edition flexibility unless you run the software editor.
what is more worth the $1000+? the mono evolver or the moog little phatty? thanks for your opinion
i got a question coz im intrested in buying a m3i zero but do i have to do something with the ds that might harm it and things like that or do i just have to do things on the msi zero card anyone answer fast!!

Hey have you every heard of a problem with the m3i not reading in the dsi (icon not showing on the home menu) and when flashing the card, the LED flashes much faster than usual. oh and btw i have tried several other microsd cards and the same thing happens

Is there any danger for m3i zero to break ds console? (I have ds lite)
If not, could you check for me how well it runs “Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2″ rom on it, It’s the reason I’d like to get m3i zero. why? because Ouendan 2 is only sold in japan and I live in finland. (after playing Elite Beat Agents I know Ouendan 2 will be good game)

if there is a huge square under the sticker doesnt that mean its fake? i have an R4i and there is a huge square under, so i took off the sticker nd the square said Elink or something which is a clone
but if it does not come with a GBA flash cart can you tell me what i need to get in order to play GBA backups if possible cause i want the M3i zero for the amount of memory i can get for the flash card.
