My Metallic Silver Nintendo DS Placed in a Clear Shell
This is my Nintendo DS with “Replacement Housing Case for NDS Lite (Translucent White)” from www.dealextreme.com Nintendo Wii Wrist strap (.00 each+ shipping for as many as four = .00 shipping) as opposed to 3.95 for ds strap store.nintendo.com and Hori Protector Kit Final Fantasy IV (Nintendo DS Lite) from either www.walmart.com or www.amazon.com which comes with the clear protective case and an extendable stylus. The frames around the screens are the original ones that came with my Metallic Silver DS (clear case comes with white ones), as are most of the buttons. The l/r buttons and the power/volume sliders are the ones that came with the clear case. I covered up the serial that I pulled from my old DS case just so Nintendo doesn’t somehow ban my DS from their networks. The light diffuser (over power/recharge lights), small circuit board in the GBA slot cover, spring for l/r button x 2, and hinge x 2 (one that snaps on open/close, other that just holds other side together) have to come from the old case. It is also better to use the original screws from the DS rather than the ones that this case comes with, they work better. I would strongly advise care when removing and replacing the ribbon cable for the top screen and speakers, and when placing the lower cover with the power slider, the power switch inside is VERY easy to break off if the slider isnt lined up, volume switch also. You can get at www.modchipstore.com – if you have a DS or Nintendo DS Lite, then you can get either the Nintendo R4 DS Card or the R4i SDHC Card. If you have a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL – then you MUST buy the R4i SDHC as the regular Nintendo R4 DS Card won’t work in the DSi or DSi XL. @thetouchdlpod no, lots of background noise so I cut the audio from the file for less distraction on the vid-and as far as distraction I haven’t had any problem with it
@ipuri7 you need to buy a skin (got mine from dealextreme) and a triwing driver, the rest is just dissasembly and reconstruction

@tomol6 it is used to hold the dust cover in, without it there it falls straight out…and it makes light mods in the dust cover really easy (for those who can solder

@TheDV881 afaik it only helps hold the cover in, if it wasnt there, it falls out. All the “pins” lead nowhere and don’t connect/short at any point (that I can see).

Honestly, I don’t know, but nintendo does have it as a registered serial (if they wanted to link back to me) So I didn’t want to give them reason to do anything to my account. (Such as cut my warranty on this or my other consoles, including those I haven’t changed)

yes and no, can be hard to work the mic cable (under the ds cart slot) and must be careful with the power/volume sliders (must line up when putting to halves together, or they break), otherwise with caution even someone like me (VERY unsteady hands) did it without incident, 5 times

@katanaboy995 The buttons that come with the case (clear) stuck out less, I kept the old buttons, they seem about the same to me, either way see for yourself, check out the side by side pix at h-t-t-p-:-/-/-t-i-n-y-.-c-c-/-f-6-a-7-w (remove the —)
@zync3008 Look for a case you want at dealextreme, make sure it matches (they have ds and ds lite cases only afaik, no dsi last time i checked), also get the “nintendo” trigram screwdriver, love the free (always) shipping and take extra care when you replace the case (power/volume slider/top screen ribbon all VERY fragile)
Do not order from the modchipstore they will just take ur money and u will never see your product. They went out of business last year
