Well the whole difference between a ranger and a trainer (aside from the devices they use) are the fact that they befriend pokemon instead of capturing them. They’re only supposed to have a pokemon they have extremely special bonds with stay with them. Not every pokemon they draw a loop around. That’s the whole point in making a ranger unique.

@Atemfan858 But in this game Pokemon don’t run away after you used them to clear an obstacle or whatnot. So basically, nearly any Pokemon you catch in this game essentially acts as a partner Pokemon.
