Nintendo sure does like milking their handheld lines, and suckers like me eat them up. What can I say? I absolutely love the DS! And to be fair, not all of these options are not for everyone. They’re just that. Options. The XL features screens 93% bigger than the DS Lite. It’s considerably bigger, but weighs roughly the same as the DSi and feels pretty good in the hand. The layout of all the buttons, screens, cameras, etc are exactly the same as the DSi. The hinge clicks halfway open, which conveniently props the upper screen up. The volume rocker now has better separation between the two buttons, and protrudes further from the system, which means changing the volume is much easier. The XL comes with Flipnote Studio, web browser, Brain Age Express: Math, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Photo Clock all preinstalled. Flipnote is a free DSiWare game, regardless of which model it is downloaded on, but the free Brain Ages are a nice touch. I can’t imagine the Photo Clock will see much use. I would have liked to see some more substantial preinstalled games, but freebies are always nice. The DSi XL retails for 0 USD, and comes in either Bronze (a dark brown) and Burgundy (the wine red featured in this video). It comes with a standard stylus, as well as a bigger fountain pen sized stylus. The charger is the same charger that comes with the original DSi model. Again, this is not something for everyone. Why are you buying the R4i gold?
Its not as good as Acekard2i or R4i-SDHC redbox.
Look at the Kernel Release dates for the r4i gold and you will see they rarely release updates so the new games wont play and it will take awhile before they fix it.

You might have a bad micro sd card or for some reason the R4i cant see there is a micro sd card in there.
If you take it out it would say the same thing.

@Bajamamut In fact it is. The battery life is longer, I dont have problems with the hinge. I’m upgrading because I have too much time with it and the lower screen is scratched, so I can only see the screen in dark places. Another reason is r¡that I lost all Stylus I had and they dont sell them anymore. Also, because of the new functions the DSI has.

@galactamarx The original is still pretty damn good. As i’ve heard, its battery is better than the DS Lite,and the hinge don’t break or it rarely breaks. Plus, it also has a SLOT 2 ^_^
I personally have a DS Lite…and my hinge broke a couple of weeks ago…

@citylightslikefire The audio player actually only handles AAC, as MP3 requires licensing, and I suppose Nintendo didn’t want to pay the fee. I’ve never used it, personally. The camera is fun to mess around with (quite fun, actually, I didn’t expect to like it as much as I do), but it’s in no way a replacement for a real camera, or in many cases, even a camera phone. It’s fairly low quality. Hope that helps.

I think I’m the only one with the ORIGINAL (not Lite) DS… i feel lonely…, but thats why im upgrading. Not a GREAT difference, since many got the Lite one, and I dont have problems with DSiWare, cause I don´t have a DSi.

What’s interesting is that you can have a game pack in each of your 3 systems and play them without having to swap them out.
I read it is heavier than the original Nintendo DS.
Just don’t drop it when you are playing it while taking a dump.

@ilovepj6488 I don’t think that really means anything. The DS Lite has a different charger from the DS and the DSi has a different charger from the DS Lite. With so many different chargers for essentially the same system, I don’t think it was necessarily a given.
ofcourse its the same charger the dsi xl is the same as the dsi but bigger.
