Taking a Look at the Hori DSi Play Stand + Stylus

From Hori comes this odd accessory for your Nintendo DSi or DS Lite, the DSi Play Stand + Stylus. This tabletop stand swivels and reclines in all manner of directions so that you can comfortably play both button and stylus driven DS games on a flat surface, accommodating both vertical and horizontal alignments. The base is a bit lighter than I’d like, but it has rubber feet to keep it from slipping around. All buttons, controls and ports are left accessible by the stand; it does not interfere with any operation. The included stylus is a little on the light side, but it’s both longer and thicker than any stylus included with DS systems. Obviously the market for something like this is a bit limited, but if you’re interested in playing your DS games comfortably on a tabletop, this is definitely the way to go. At the time of this video, it’ll run you a mere on Amazon, so while a little frivolous, it certainly won’t break the bank.

You know what this would be good for, Lets Plays. I mean if someone wants to do an LP of a DS game, there recording options are quite limited to ether a camera in a dark room (Not always a good thing with a ever moving screen) or an emulator (which can cause problems in and of itself). This would make the camera and dark room option easier to do, and easier for others to watch.

Makes me think of something Nintendo would use for demo units at Nintendo World or some place.

hey your a hori lol ho

A great thing by hori is the gamecube digital controller. It’s advertised for use with the gameboy player, but can be used with any game as long as no use of the analog and c sticks are required. The Japanese version is wayyy cheaper than the one in America

I think there are stands you can purchase for the iPhone/iPod Touch, though I think they’re more designed for video watching than gameplay.

I wasn’t going out of my way to emulate Mark, but I do watch a lot of his videos, and this sort of thing tends to happen when you cover similar material. :)

It does not hold a PSP, no. I even tried just setting the PSP on it, but the PSP is far too long for it to be worthwhile.

I don’t know if you are trying to mimic Mark from ‘Classic Game Room’ ,but you do sound a lot like him here.Anyway excellent review.

This wouldn’t hold a psp right? I am looking for a stand for that.

I no longer own an original DS so I can’t test it, but the back of the box for the stand says it won’t fit.
